The safety of our employees, customers, and property always comes first. This policy outlines items that cannot be moved, require special handling, or need additional preparation before your move.
Prohibited Items
The following items will NOT be moved or transported by Blue Dolly Moving & Storage under any circumstances:
- All firearms, weapons, or items primarily used as weapons
- Illegal items, including drugs, drug paraphernalia, stolen property, or any item whose possession is unlawful
- Items containing liquids or materials that may leak, ooze, or spill (shampoo bottles, cleaning sprays, paint, chemicals)
- Explosive, combustible, or flammable items (ammunition, fireworks, gasoline, oil, kerosene, lighter fluid)
- Anything that is or was alive (animals, insects, plants, fruit, meats, cheeses, biological materials)
- Any edible items, including perishable or non-perishable food
- Items that emit strong odors or may attract insects or vermin
- Hazardous, toxic, or regulated materials
- Items that may expand, burst, or produce gas
- Items that cannot safely fit through entrances, exits, stairwells, or hallways
- Items packed in garbage bags, laundry bags, or milk crates
- Grills, ovens, or stoves that have not been properly prepared or cleaned
Items Requiring Specialized Handling (Not Accepted)
Blue Dolly does not move items that require specialized tools, equipment, or expertise beyond standard household moving services, unless expressly disclosed and agreed upon in writing prior to the crew's arrival:
- Upright or grand pianos (digital keyboards excluded)
- Grandfather / Grandmother clocks or large mechanical clocks
- Pool tables
- Aquariums
- Commercial display cases
- Commercial refrigerators or stoves
- Mechanical or adjustable beds unless fully disassembled prior to arrival
- Universal or multi station gym equipment
Fragile Items Policy
Certain items require special care and are considered "Fragile Items." Fragile Items are not fully protected under Released Value Protection, and Blue Dolly's liability is limited.
Fragile Items include:
- Glassware, dishes, ceramics, pottery, ornaments, and crystal
- Items incorporating glass, including tabletops and mirrors
- Electronics (TVs, computers, tablets, phones, printers, hard drives, audio equipment) unless packed by Blue Dolly in a specialized box
- Particleboard, pressboard, or composite wood furniture
Furniture containing glass must be disassembled so glass components can be separately protected.
Internal Damage and Mechanical Derangement
Blue Dolly is not liable for internal damage, mechanical failure, or electrical malfunction for:
- Electronics
- Musical instruments
- Appliances
- Mechanical or motorized items
Because Blue Dolly cannot verify internal conditions prior to transport, liability for internal derangement is excluded.
Fragile Item Waivers (Required for Certain Items)
Certain Fragile Items carry an elevated risk of damage. Blue Dolly may require the customer to sign a Fragile Item Waiver for:
- Musical instruments not in a hard case
- Pinball machines, arcade cabinets, or table games
- Loose or oversized electronics packed by Blue Dolly
- Furniture with non-removable mirrors or glass panels
- Statues or large decorative items under 300 lbs
- Chandeliers with glass elements
- Neon signage
- Large IKEA wardrobes that are not fully disassembled
- Oil paintings or artwork sensitive to environmental conditions
Items Requiring Professional Crating
Some items present safety risks unless professionally crated. These must be crated prior to arrival, or Blue Dolly may refuse to transport:
- Furniture containing marble, granite, travertine, or stone
- Stone slabs of any kind
- Glass tabletops or mirrors larger than 5 feet in any dimension
- Items made of acrylic or Lucite
- Furniture constructed entirely of glass
- Large framed artwork measuring 40 inches x 60 inches or larger
- Televisions larger than 65 inches unless in original manufacturer packaging
Valuables and Special Items
Valuable Documents
We strongly advise customers NOT to transport with household goods:
- Cash, bonds, securities, or negotiable instruments
- Passports, licenses, birth certificates, or legal documents
- Items containing personal or financial information
Items of Exceptional Value
Any article with a replacement value exceeding $150 per pound (fine art, antiques, jewelry, furs, rare collectibles, sentimental items) should be kept in personal possession or covered by third-party insurance.
Digital Media
Customers are responsible for backing up all digital data. Blue Dolly is not liable for data loss, corruption, or damage under any circumstances.
