In the unfortunate event that an item is damaged or goes missing during a move, Blue Dolly Moving & Storage maintains a formal claims process. All claims are evaluated in accordance with our Terms of Use, Released Value Protection policy, inventory rules, and limitations of liability.
Submitting a Claim
To initiate a claim, contact Blue Dolly directly and email a written claim to hello@bluedollymoving.com or fill out our claim form.
Damaged Items
To be eligible for any reimbursement for damaged items, you must:
- 1Notify Blue Dolly of the damage while the assigned movers remain present or immediately upon completion of services
- 2Record all claimed damage and notify hello@bluedollymoving.com or on the Bill of Lading prior to signing
- 3Initiate all claims in writing within three (3) calendar days of the date the damage was discovered
- 4Report delivery-related damage immediately upon delivery, no later than five (5) calendar days after delivery
- 5Provide all requested documentation, photographs, and information in a timely manner
Failure to comply with these requirements voids all claims.
Once all required information is received, the claims review process generally takes up to four (4) weeks.
Missing Items
In the event of a reported missing item, Blue Dolly will conduct a reasonable investigation, which may include reviewing inventories, paperwork, photographs, and crew documentation. Customer cooperation may be required as part of this process. Blue Dolly will provide reasonable updates as the investigation progresses.
Payment Obligations During Claims
Regardless of the status of any claim, you remain responsible for all charges, fees, and balances due for services rendered.
- Do not initiate chargebacks, payment reversals, or attempts to withhold payment while a claim is under review
- Failure to remit payment or initiation of a chargeback may result in claim denial
- Approval of a claim does not entitle you to refunds or credits unrelated to the specific approved claim
Property Damage Claims
For damage to real property (walls, handrails, floors, door frames, railings), you must:
- Notify Blue Dolly while the movers are still present or immediately after services conclude
- Initiate a written claim within three (3) calendar days of the move date
Property Damage Limitations:
- • Maximum liability: $50 per square foot, up to $1,000 per move
- • Coverage applies only to the directly damaged area
- • No coverage for full replacement of walls, floors, ceilings, or fixtures without direct damage
- • No coverage for sidewalks, driveways, landscaping, or exterior surfaces unless grossly negligent
Method of Settlement
In the event of an approved claim, Blue Dolly may, at its sole discretion:
- 1Repair the damaged article and return it to a reasonably comparable condition
- 2Pay the reasonable cost of repair
- 3Reimburse the depreciated value of the article
Any reimbursement is strictly limited to Released Value Protection at $0.60 per pound per article, regardless of the article’s actual or replacement value.
Additional Liability Limitations
- Blue Dolly is not liable for damage that was not witnessed, reported, or documented per reporting requirements
- If an article is part of a matching set, liability is limited solely to the damaged article, not the entire set
Blue Dolly assumes no liability for injury or damage caused by customers or third parties who assist with handling items
